Celebrity Dog Spotting

Having recently decided to add a dog to the family we were unsure of the best breed of dog for our household. We did our research on getting a new puppy – things to look for (make sure the dog is worm and flea free), what breeds work best in a family environment and things to ensure we had on the day (pup food being the main concern), but what really took my interest was the world of celebrities and what dogs they had! So here are my favourite celeb and dog combos.

Ryan Reynolds and Baxter
Always one to be a little different, Ryan Reynolds’ dog is a cross breed, or mutt if you want to specific. Cross breed dogs are much easier to come across than pedigrees and are much cheaper to purchase. And if I can look as good as Ryan whilst walking one then this may be the type of dog we need?

Olivia Palmero and Mr Butler
This cute little Maltese dog is clearly a good choice of dog that can be trained and knows how to behave himself in public as Olivia is often pictured with Mr Butler and he is always on his best behaviour. The obvious downside to this breed is that it is very clean and white so perhaps would not be happy out and about in the muddy English countryside?

Teri Hatcher
The Desperate Housewives star is frequently pictured out and about in LA with her dogs which include two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. King Charles are a gorgeous looking breed but sometimes have health problems from over breeding, but still would make a lovely family pet.

Anne Hathaway and Esmeralda
In my top choices for dogs is the beautiful Labrador retriever. Brilliant family dogs – they are working dogs so they are easy to train, they love a long walk and are so pretty to look at too. Anne Hathaway has a beautiful chocolate lab proving that in LaLa land it is not just about little handbag dogs.

In the end, on the day we visited the animal shelter (lots of celebs are rescuing their dogs these days so not only is it the conscientious thing to do it is also very “in”) we fell in love with a gorgeous pug called Mathilde. She may not be popular in Hollywood (yet) but she has made a great addition to our family.

Table Talk

Written by my friend Otis Buckley

The management team at the Club where I work has lunch together every day, and most days we talk business at some point during the hour plus that we are at the table. But we also talk about our prior evening at home, the lottery, since the take is the largest in the history of the lottery, and what we watched on television the night before. There are a couple of shows that we all watch and discuss the following day after each episode. Yesterday, my boss said that he had decided to order direct tv because he and his wife want to watch a new show that I had not heard of. That is just what they need – another show to obsess about. My obsession these days is playing Words With Friends on my iPhone! That game is addictive! That is another thing we do while sitting there. We will all have our phones out playing one another in these word games, which I do not feel bad about because it is great stimulation for the mind. It is as good as working the crossword puzzles in the paper.

Guests

Guest post by Gerard Mcdaniel

I’ve known for as long as I can remember that I would live in New York after I graduated from college. I didn’t have all of the specifics worked out, but I knew that I would make it all work somehow. Sure enough, I moved all my stuff up here after college and absolutely couldn’t be happier. I am constantly amazed by how great this city is, and I love bringing friends and family up to visit. A lot of them have never been here, and watching someone’s face as they explore New York for the first time never gets old. I don’t have a lot of room for guests, since real estate in New York is obviously a little pricey. I’m stocking away as much money as I can right now to hopefully move into a bigger place, because having guests sleep on a futon is not the most hospitable option. A friend actually recommended that I check out some on info on NY electrcitiy …evidently in New York we can choose our own energy providers and save money just by making a switch! It couldn’t be easier to save a little money every month. I’ll be in a bigger place in no time.

Making Valentine’s Day a little bit sweeter

Guest post written by Mary Hinson

I always feel sorry for people that are single and seem to be having a miserable day on Valentine’s Day. I don’t think that it’s worth getting that upset over and wish that they wouldn’t feel so bad! There are always a few people at work that especially get upset and grumpy on that day and I like to do something really nice by bringing them treats on the holiday.

I wanted to do the same this year, but try and find something a little more special than just the regular old cookie or cupcake to make. When I was looking online for recipes, I saw some information regarding debt settlement family and showed it to my husband. We could really use some debt settlement services, so we thought about putting that information to use.

I decided on making some cake pops for Valentine’s Day. Apparently they’re really big right now, which I’ve seen them in Starbucks and other places. So I’m going to take some of those to work and of course save some at home for our family to eat too!
