While wife Heidi Montag is continuing her quest to be famous for doing nothing, Spencer Pratt is taking a new direction in his career.
“In the last few months, I have discovered a new passion and new purpose to my life,” Pratt, 26, told People.com.
“With this in mind, I have decided to take a break from my obligations to MTV’s ‘The Hills’ and discontinue filming any more episodes for this current season.”
The reality show villain, who is studying software engineering with a focus on encryption at USC, is reportedly going to work for American Defense Enterprises’ cyber security division. Seriously.
“Upon learning of President Obama’s declaration that the ‘cyber threat is one of the most serious economic and national security challenges we face as a nation,’ I have decided to refocus my energy and devote my full resources to helping America face this and other unprecedented challenges,” he said.
“My new mission is this: To do my part in maintaining the technological superiority of the U.S. military, and prevent emerging technologies from threatening our nation’s security.”
Though stated he is “saddened” to end his stint on the MTV reality show, Pratt stated he “would not be honoring” his country or himself if he were to continue his quest for fame when he has “the opportunity and the capability to assist our nation against these prevalent threats.”
Taking a further step away from the spotlight, Montag, 23, recently announced that Pratt would no longer act as her manager, and would be replaced by Malibu-based psychic Aiden Chase.
