NEWLYWED model Miranda Kerr and actor Orlando Bloom are reportedly anticipating a baby.

The lovebirds recently returned to the US from a honeymoon in the Caribbean, having wed in a secret ceremony at an undisclosed location.

Now, a source close to the 27-year-old Victoria’s Secret model told American celebrity magazine Us Weekly that Kerr is anticipating a child.

“She’s definitely pregnant … Miranda’s thrilled,” the source said. “She’s telling all her friends, mostly other models, about it.”

While the friend stated an official announcement had yet to be made, the couple’s huge news will be hard to keep hidden.

“She poses in lingerie. It will be obvious soon enough.”

Kerr has not hidden her desire for a child in the past.

“I have always been very open about wanting to be a mom one day,” she recently told an Australian newspaper. “And I’ve always thought Orlando would be a great dad!”

A TYPICAL woman changes her hairstyle more than 100 times throughout her life.

The average female gets her locks layered, shortened or colored at least twice a year between the ages of 13 and 65 reports Grazia magazine.

Most women will experiment with at least three colors. A third will change their hair after a breakup and almost half with opt for a new look simply because they are bored.

British hairdresser hairdresser Andrew Collinge, who commissioned a survey of 3,000 women, stated the most popular style remains the classic “Rachel” from Friends cut, made famous by U.S. actress Jennifer Aniston.

“My feeling is that women are changing their looks tiny and often rather than dramatic changes,” Collinge told the British edition of the weekly magazine.

SHE has conquered the universe – now Jennifer Hawkins has spoken of her plans to tackle the challenges of marriage and motherhood.

In a candid interview, the former Miss Universe told The Daily Telegraph of her five-year plan, which includes walking down the aisle with long-term boyfriend Jake Wall and having a baby.

“Kids and marriage and all of that stuff,” Hawkins said.

“Well, maybe not in five years, but I mean in the near future – soon. It [marriage] is definitely something I would like down the track and so would he, so it depends on situations, circumstances, where we are all at, like anyone.”

The super-successful model’s plans also include expanding her business empire and beginning property development – which is at the top of her list.

“[I'd like to] continue working with the huge companies I am working with. . . definitely expand into property, it will be nice to go into the building side of things,” she said.

Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar.

End of sidebar. Return to begin of sidebar.

But the supermodel and savvy businesswoman, who has recently added to her bulging brand portfolio with a new line of shoes, has not ruled out creating an overseas name for herself with future work aboard.

“I’m 26, and there is always time,” she said.

“I do not think the be-all and end-all is to live in America, because I have lived in America, and if you want work opportunities you can be still based here and I find that intriguing, I think that would be really interesting to do that.”

Although not famous outside Australia, unlike new Myer ambassador and New York-based model Jess Hart and rival department store spruiker Miranda Kerr, Hawkins stated she had no regrets about not having an international profile.

Locally her stocks continue to rise, with Hawkins recently heating up Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays Islands in a steamy shoot with Hart for Myer’s new spring/summer designer collections and her own label Cozi.

ONE-time celebrity cult fashion label Ed Hardy has had a spectacular falling out with Australia’s richest man, Frank Lowy.

Madonna might still be a fan but Ed Hardy’s landlord is not – all six Ed Hardy stores in Lowy’s Australian Westfield shopping centres shut suddenly last week.

After months of wrangling with Westfield, the international label’s Australian boss admitted to The Sunday Telegraph the company was struggling in the shopping centres.

The Sunday Telegraph comprehends the stoush erupted after the retail giant refused to grant chief executive Gary Berman to break contractual agreements in place since late 2008.

The store closures followed four months of meetings with Lowy’s representatives, in which Mr Berman tried to extract his stores from the shopping centres after finding half of the sites were not performing. He admitted he had been behind on rent.

Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar.

End of sidebar. Return to begin of sidebar.

“I would state that on a couple of the non-performing sites, we had some slippage,” Mr Berman said.

“They’ve either got their money or they are getting the money. I made the decision to do it all in one move, take the pain and take my medicine.”

While he had not yet calculated his losses, he stated doing so would make him “ill”.

Staff closed all shops on June 29 and 30.

The brand still has 12 stores around the country and about 100 wholesale accounts.

The brand, by Californian designer Christian Audigier, was inspired by tattoo culture and burst on to the global fashion scene in 2005 – worn by everyone from Madonna and Britney Spears to David Beckham and Snoop Dogg.

But in recent times, a hate movement towards the brand has grown on the internet. Even one-time wearer Lara Bingle tweeted in May: “Madonna’s love of Ed Hardy remains one of the great mysteries of our time.”

HAS Catherine McNeil bounced back into the arms of ex-girlfriend, Danish supermodel Freja Beha Erichsen?

That seems to be the hot rumour doing the rounds following McNeil’s recent split from Ruby Rose.

McNeil and Beha Erichsen dated for more than a year before splitting in early 2009.

Shooting Stars: Week’s hottest celebrity pics

Erichsen, currently working in London, reportedly went on to date fellow catwalk clomper Irina Lazareanu and McNeil moved on to her pal Rose.

Confidential revealed last week that McNeil ended her relationship with the MTV gal, with reps for both women at the time denying any third party was involved.

Yesterday we put the new claim to Rose’s reps, who responded swiftly: “We do not discuss Ruby’s personal life.”

PLUS-SIZE model Crystal Renn has sparked a large debate in the fashion world after appearing incredibly thin in a new ad campaign, FOXNews.com reports.

Wearing nothing but a shirt for an ad for “Fashion for Passion”, Renn looks nearly as thin as she did when she began “straight size” modeling in her teens.

Renn, whose agent states she fluctuates between a 10 and a 14, has had to defend herself previously after recent appearances in magazines and on the catwalk with a more toned-down version of her curves.

After appearing with Brooklyn Decker and Alessandra Ambrosio last month in Glamour, her agent at Ford Models, Gary Dakin, stated she was not “trying to lose weight” and had simply “firmed up” after hiking in Patagonia.

An outspoken critic of the industry’s obsession with thin models, Renn’s book Hungry chronicled her battle with an eating disorder and her eventual acceptance and success as a “plus size” model.

A rep for Renn was not immediately available for comment.

Megan Gale launches her swimwear brand / Brad Hunter

IT’S minus bearable outside, with an icy wind blowing off Sydney Harbour into the luxury piles perched on the hillside of Vaucluse. So who could blame a swimwear model for canceling a job strutting around in a bikini?

Well, Megan Gale for one, with the former clotheshorse biting her manicured nails after a few bikini babes were last-minute no-shows for the launch of her Isola swim label and Who magazine party last night.

Now on the other side of the catwalk, the beginner designer was tut-tutting over the late dramas yesterday.

“I would never have done that – you commit to do it, you rock up,” the whip-cracking glamour girl told Holly Byrnes.

Gallery: See Gale’s bikini creations

Still, the clamour to recast did not tempt the curvy beauty back to the runway, leaving it to 10 models to shed their winter woollies and show off the results of her hard work, a dream 18 months in the making.

Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar.

But it was not the first time her new togs had gone on display, with Gale revealing she road-tested them for boyfriend Andy Lee on the couple’s Bali getaway last week.

“It’s the first time I’ve taken my own bikinis on holidays and it was weird … I was really nervous wearing them,” she said.

The response from the fashion industry has been sizzling, with Gale taking orders from every stockist she pitched to earlier this year, including David Jones.

“This is my tiny nest egg so hopefully we have got it started right,” she said.

Despite a low-key launch, London-based boutique retailer All Saints had huge takings when it unveiled its flagship shop on Manhattan’s Broadway, Uk newspaper The Independent on Sunday reported.

The move followed the launch of another U.K. fashion retailer, Topshop, on Broadway last year, which now claims a solid client base of 30,000 shoppers every week.

Beyond Broadway, preppy British label Jack Wills and UK street-wear favorite Superdry were among the other brands making waves Stateside, striking a chord with fashion-hungry Americans tired of their homogenized homegrown brands.

“The main reason they are doing so well is because they are quite different to anything else trading over there,” Jess Brown, editor of Drapers magazine said.

“Retailers like All Saints and Jack Wills behave more like brands. They do not slavishly follow catwalk trends like (chain retailers).”

Other British successes in the U.S. include upmarket chain Reiss, which opened nine stores there between 2005 and 2008, and Burberry, which nets a major chunk of its earnings from its U.S. operations and even added its logo to the Manhattan skyline with the launch of its headquarters at 444 Madison Ave last year.

Bruno Schiavi’s Jupi Corporation announced in May its appointment as the official designer and distributer of the Biggest Loser Apparel Range, a spin-off of the hit TV series, with the US network NBC.

The Australian lingerie designer states the industry is being hypocritical in supporting plus-sized models on the catwalk while neglecting bigger women at retail level.

Schiavi states there is still a big gap for plus-size women who want to look fashionable.

“It really irks me … when designers go out there and state ‘yes we are behind plus size’ and yet their collections are never made for a massive size, it’s really a double standard,” Schiavi says.

Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar.

End of sidebar. Return to begin of sidebar.

Due to launch in the US this September, Schiavi won the international Biggest Loser deal partly because of his track record, which includes the “Dr Rey Shapewear” collection and the Peter Morrissey Big W range which is designed to include plus sizes.

The 40-year-old fashion veteran also insists on booking voluptuous models to showcase his ranges. He states women should be empowered by fashion no matter what their size.

“Every year a lot of these designers come out and state that they embrace curves, but it’s a lot of rubbish because they don’t,” he says.

Schiavi states designers are too worried about margins to produce plus-size fashion, because it costs more to manufacture.

Despite the average dress size in Australia being a 14, the retail reality, from high-end boutiques to major fitness brands, is that the plus-sized consumer is being left out in the cold.

“If you go into any major sports retailer have a look at what they basically do, you will never find a size XXX in women’s in one of the major brands,” he says.

“Large sportswear brand stop at large. How are these men and women meant to dress if they cannot purchase something to look great?”

His attack comes as the June/July issue of Australian Harper’s Bazaar features an article on The Return of Curves, complete with a pic of Australia’s Next Top Model 2009 winner Tahnee Atkinson looking voluptuous in a Herve Leger dress.

Australian Harper’s Bazaar editor Edwina McCann states the move towards more normal sized models comes as a backlash against past trends, such as the “waif”, “alien” and “heroin chic” looks.

“I do not think that the fashion industry can deny that the models did become in some cases terrifyingly thin and I think there is a general movement publicly to see them shift back to curvier then that,” McCann admits.

“Off course more women would like to see reality reflected back at them, and that is why you get with the winner of MasterChef, or even Tahnee winning Australia’s Next Top Model – people like to see more normal people winning because (of the)’hey that could be me’ kind of thing.”

But she admits she probably would not put a “general plus size model” on the cover of the popular glossy.
“Primarily we would not have the sample size clothing to do that … we are a fashion magazine and the fashion on the cover is the foremost issue for us,” she says.
