This Van Gogh is Van Good!
Experts have authenticated an 1886 piece of art as the work of painter Vincent Van Gogh.
“Le Blute-Fin Mill” had long been in the possession of art curator Dirk Hannema, who was ridiculed for claiming he possessed several works by the famous postimpressionist artist.
“The painting is a tiny atypical for Van Gogh because of the many people appearing on it,” stated Ralph Keuning, director of the Museum de Fundatie in Zwolle, Holland, where the painting will be put on display.
“But [it is] also very typical because of the prominent role for the mill.”
Hannema, who founded the Fundatie museum, had displayed the painting in his home for years until he died in 1984.
Although he claimed to have other Van Goghs, Keuning stated there is no proof showing that the other works of art were by the Dutch painter.
This is the first work by Van Gogh to be authenticated since 1995.
